What You Will Be Doing

In this position the Logistics Supervisor will plan, direct, and monitor all materials planning, inventory control, storage, shipping and receiving activities.  You will be responsible for developing and implementing materials handling procedures; monitor the cost and effectiveness of activities to optimize resources, prioritize spending and achieve volume, timelines, reliability, and safety standards. Oversee the maintenance of inventory control systems that track the status of purchase orders, inventory levels, and production requirements. Interpret inventory requests, production schedules, orders, and other documents. Liaise with functional or operational area managers. Lead, direct, evaluate, and develop a team of professional material handlers. This position will be based out of our largest manufacturing site in Dublin, Virginia.

 

Key Activities and Responsibilities:

Maintain good housekeeping and material identification and organization in his/her area Establish set procedures for the most efficient operation of his/her area using his/her available manpower to best achieve the desired results and to maximize productivity Set acceptable standards of performance for his/her employees and ensures through training, direction, and discipline that these standards are met Check all transactions in area to minimize errors and to ensure inventory balance integrity while making material balance adjustments, if needed Ensure that parts have been allocated correctly in area and that conveyor and flow racks are organized and identified properly Directly responsible for highlighting potential parts shortage, keeping production supervisors informed of material status, and reporting misuse or misallocation of materials. Keeps expediters and their supervisors aware of all critical shortages to alleviate any potential production downtime Communicate effectively with production, quality control, data control, maintenance, planning, purchasing, traffic, and all material supervisors Review problems with superiors and reports daily progress in carrying out departmental policies and programs What We Are Looking For BS degree in Logistics, Business or related field of study strongly preferred Four (4) years of logistics experience Strong knowledge in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are required) and other tools used to display and monitor key performance indicators like Power BI is a plus.
