Logistics Support II
Position: Logistics Support II Department: Production Reports to: Shop Manager Location: South Windsor, Connecticut JOB SUMMARY Responsible for receiving and putting away incoming materials, pulling materials and products from warehouse and preparing for shipment using appropriate packaging and crating methods. Coordinates with carriers and Sales for shipment, creates and controls all appropriate documents for shipment both domestically and internationally . ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS + Follow daily work schedule and prioritize work. + Perform inventory transactions to maintain inventory accuracy. + Assist with expediting orders to meet required ship dates. + Perform inventory stocking of items from Receiving. + Understand and follow Lean Manufacturing processes and tools. + Creates shipping documents for domestic and international shipments; frequently communicates with freight companies and forwarders to schedule shipments, and prepare required domestic/international documents, packing slips and waybills ensuring timely delivery with complete and accurate documentation which include UPS, FedEx, DHL, trucks, air and ocean freight. + Affixes shipping label on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information; examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet all domestic and international specifications including customs documentation. Posts weights and shipping charges; affixes postage. + Accepts goods delivered to the company; inspects condition of received goods for damage & notify supervisor of suspect goods; rejects goods without proper RMA or PO number and unpacks for stock. Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects pre-assembled container. + Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages, routes items to departments. + Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies. Assists with inventory control and cycle counting. + Operates lift truck and uses hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area in safe manner. + Perform duties of Inventory Control as needed. + Handles stress in a professional manner, demonstrates the ability to get along with others, demonstrates successful attendance and punctuality, and works overtime / extra hours as required to meet business needs. + May occasionally travel, primarily in the local area. + Other duties as required. EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE + HS Diploma/GED + 3 years’ experience in all aspects of domestic and international shipping; or equivalent combination of education and experience. + Valid Driver’s License required + Ability to be Forklift Certified PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. Office and travel have moderate noise levels. Machine/Product demonstrations and customer visits can have loud noise levels. Noise levels may be extreme and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is provided and usage is driven by customer requirements. Other required PPE includes, but is not limited to, steel toe boots, hardhat and safety glasses. Customer working environments can be extreme in regard to height, confined space, physical requirements and hazards.
