This is an UNPAID internship through the DoD SkillBridge Program for transitioning active-duty US military personnel. DoD SkillBridge Internships are available to help transitioning active-duty military personnel gain real-world experience in the work force sometime during their final 180 days of active-duty service. The intern will actively train on meaningful projects and work closely with a mentor and with senior company leadership. HII Mission Technologies (HII-MT) Internship programs are focused on placing transitioning military into internships that require KSAs, Education & Military Training similar to their current or previous military jobs; positions that could easily transition over to a full-time regular and permanent job with HII-MT.
Program of InstructionLOCATION: Virginia Beach, VA
The SkillBridge intern will train as a Logistics Support II within HII-Mission Technologies, reporting to a designated HII Supervisor, with the goal of learning Logistics basics and principles. The intern will be assigned special projects as needed.
Desired End State (3-4 month target)
At the end of four months, the intern will be able to develop skills in logistics support.
The intern will develop a good understanding of logistics support basics. This includes:
Familiarization and utilization of web-based tools; One-Touch, Haystack and CDMD-OA.
Basic understanding of SQL server and ROCKATS program.
Collaboration/Coordination with members of C5RA team to provide logistic support to meet mission requirements.
Mission Technologies will benefit from the military background of the SkillBridge intern and considers the SkillBridge internship an overall positive experience.
Assumptions/Restrictions
SkillBridge Intern will possess at minimum an Interim Secret Security Clearance.
SkillBridge Intern will be available during core hours for critical meetings and training.
Training Plan
Phase 1 - Basics
Week 1: In processing, Introductions/office, and reference familiarization. Week 2: Share drive folders, instructions, data management. Week 3: APL familiarization Week 4: Shipboard validations and drawings.
Phase 2 – Logistics Support Operations
Week 5: Tech manuals and PMS Viewer. Week 6: Assessment tools, 2-kilo writing, ROCKATS Reports module. Week 7: Introduction to the ROCKATS program and Web based tools. Week 8: Assessment requirements and preparation.
Phase 3 – Collaboration, Planning, Customer Feedback
Week 9: C5RA planning and execution. Week 10: Interaction with CNAL, Ships Force and MARMC Technicians. Week 12: Onboard schedules, roles, and requirements. Week 13: Production of Final reports and products.
Additional Goals
Integrate with the logistics team and perform C5RA. Manage time/resources for multiple events.#LI-RM1
Minimum QualificationsActive-Duty Military ONLY, within final 180 days of active-duty service. Applications accepted with final 12 months of active-duty service. Education and Experience dependent on Program of Instruction.
Must have SECRET security clearance. 4 years relevant experience in Navy maintenance Preferred Requirements Use of Microsoft Office Suite. Familiarity with OMMS-NG, FEDLOG a plus. Physical RequirementsPhysical Requirements will vary and is dependent on the Program of Instruction.
