Logistics Warehouse Process Engineer 1

Job Summary:

The Logistics Warehouse Engineer is responsible for leading and/or supporting, new process development and process kaizen/optimization in the areas of material storage and conveyance, inventory management, and transportation, Space planning, Capacity enhancements, Facility layout, and Capital improvement projects. This includes the evaluation and introduction of innovative technologies such as automated guided vehicles (AGV), autonomous mobile robots (AMR), and automated storage and retrieval systems (ASRS) to improve labor and space efficiency.

 

Roles & Responsibilities:

Process Capability, Space and Capacity Planning. Design, maintain, and optimize warehouse facility layouts Develop specifications, installation and training plans for new equipment and/or material-handling systems Coordinate project activities with other groups such as Production, Facilities, Engineering, and SHE Collaborate and align locally and globally as required (DMTN, DMAT, DMNC, DNJP) Assist with evaluating potential vendors, equipment makers, and services to meet required specifications. Investigate in-house manufacturing problems and recommend countermeasures. Research, develop, and test long term improvement ideas. Generate reports to clearly explain issues and / or results. Ability to read, troubleshoot, modify, and write PLC Ladder Logic. Working with Robotics, Vision Systems, and Laser Programming a plus. Mechanical Aptitude required. Ensure documentation meets IATF16949 and ISO9001. Maintain and generate process control plan specifications and process failure mode and effect analysis documentation. Maintain good working relationships with team members. Project Management – coordinate, schedule, and execute individual and multi-departmental projects plans, including full line implementation and start up.

 

Qualifications: 

Requires a degree in Industrial Engineering or another Engineering discipline.  0-2 years of direct experience required.

 

Skills & Abilities:

Ability to effectively communicate in written and oral format. Ability to present improvement ideas to both internal and external organizations.  Ability to negotiate with multiple parties internal and externally regarding QCDSME of the projects.  Evaluate effectiveness of current and future logistics processes Identify cost-reduction or process-improvement opportunities within the logistics organization Evaluate innovative technologies such as automated guided vehicles (AGV), autonomous mobile robots (AMR), and automated storage and retrieval systems (ASRS) to improve labor and space efficiency Assess the environmental impact and/or energy efficiency of logistics activities Ability to identify and judge the process improvement opportunities and make decisions of the most suitable improvement idea.  Ability to judge the cost effectiveness of implementation of automated devices in terms of ROI in such as manhour, utilities, environmental impacts, etc.

 Annual Salary: $60,000-$75,000
