Long Term Care Administrator

Position Summary
Administratively responsible for the day to day management and 24-hour operation of the Cal Turner Rehab and Specialty Care. Responsible for the administration of nursing and other clinical patient care functions, environmental services, dining services and social services with the objective of providing quality resident care consistent with Med Center Health’s mission. Makes decisions within the framework of the Med Center Health’s philosophies, policies, and procedures and assures implementation and compliance with local, federal and state long term care requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
Work Experience
Four years’ proven healthcare management experience including two years’ management level experience in a long term care of similar setting.
Education Bachelor’s degree in administration, business, or healthcare related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
Certifications/Licensure Current Kentucky Board of Licensure for Long Term Care Administrators (or obtain within six months of hire/placement). Leadership Performance Standards Delivering Results Leads and engages a service line or department(s) closely aligned to Med Center Health’s strategic initiatives and organizational goals. Identifies and recommends initiatives and programs for assigned area(s). Tracks and assesses the effectiveness of programs and practices and assures that goals and targets are met. Staffing and Development Hires, retains, trains and develops employees who have the appropriate level of job knowledge, skill and overall fit to the department and to the organization. Communicates job performance expectations and provides performance feedback that facilitates development. Actively addresses employee performance concerns through conflict-resolution and delivers progressive employee counseling actions appropriate to Med Center Health policies and procedures. Cultivating a Strong Workplace Actively champions employee engagement. Is well aware of employee morale and intervenes appropriately to maintain high levels of employee morale and engagement. Financial Performance Directs the department(s) financial performance and operational budget. Analyzes costs, develops programs to assure compliance with budgetary constraints and provides justifications for budget variances. Plans for the ongoing and future capital needs of the department with necessary analysis and documentation. Oversees the day to day and 24-hour operation of the Cal Turner Rehab and Specialty Care including quality of service and clinical outcomes. Formulates strategic planning, fostering the mission, vision, values and supporting the objectives of the hospital to shape healthcare delivery and promotion of Cal Turner Rehab and Specialty Care within the community. Directs the overall operations of patient care programs and services through functional directors and in collaboration with the Vice President. Serves as the liaison officer and channel of communications between the licensing boards and agencies and the Vice President. Oversees the delivery of patient care and ensures optimal levels of continuous improvement of clinical and service quality. Coordinates with the Director, Nursing to establish delivery of patient care services in alignment of the mission, vision and values for Med Center Health. Establishes short- and long-term goals for patient care services. Develops and approves policies and procedures and monitors and evaluates the provision of patient care. In conjunction with the Director, Nursing recommends the quantity and mix of personnel required to provide patient care on assigned services. Leads the improvement of capacity and patient flow within the facility and other elements of the Med Center Health system. Drives the quality improvement process for the facility including measuring, assessing, and improving the performance of services and processes. Ensures compliance with State and Federal laws, accreditation, professional and regulatory agency standards including quality assurance and licensure requirements of Cal Turner Rehab and Specialty Care. Develops and maintains standards of care to meet specific needs of assigned services. Provides direction and guidance in successful preparation of licensing and accreditation surveys and other regulatory inspections. Provides leadership in developing strategic, business and marketing plans for the facility. Communicates Cal Turner Rehab and Specialty Care strategies, objectives and organizational issues to directors and team members. Develops and ensures an effective organization model in which Cal Turner Rehab and Specialty Care operates and integrates into the Med Center Health system and other healthcare facilities. Cooperates with long term care associations and health planning agencies in activities directed toward the improvement of community health care. Represents the facility in contracts with outside agencies, third party payors, and external organizations. Manages the effective allocation of capital and human resources including organizational structure, control of appropriate staffing mix and levels and management productivity. Receives information on any emergency situation that arises and assists as necessary. Coordinates all services vital to 24-hour functioning of patient care services. Is available to evening and night staff to address patient issues and patient care service functions.
