The Loss Prevention Specialist is responsible for overseeing two or more sites in the logistics space. Responsibilities include theft investigations, workplace violence/workplace incident management interviews, and physical security of buildings.

Responsible for establishing risk-based security standards for Amazon’s First, Middle, and Last Mile locations and the methods for maintaining and improving those standards. The specific areas of focus include loss exposure/loss controls analysis, investigations of theft and loss, physical security systems and controls, contract guarding services, loss prevention education and awareness programs, workplace violence and loss prevention audit programs. To ensure these standards and methods are consistently implemented in alignment with strategic plans, the job holder will develop and maintain key relationships with regional leaders, the First Mile, Middle Mile, and Last Mile operational teams, as well as other cross-functional teams across the organization. The role is field-based.

Key Deliverables:
Functional leadership; risk assessment and management; Security and Loss Prevention (S&LP) performance management; regulatory, legal, and labor compliance; compliance with internal standards; budgeting and cost management; physical protection systems, technology, and services; awareness and training for non-S&LP and S&LP personnel; handling incidents, investigations, and security intelligence; crisis management and resilience; key internal and external contacts.

Responsibilities:
- Drive the process by which compliance with all Security & Loss Prevention program standards is attained.
- Identify, develop, and implement additional loss prevention program elements required to meet the unique needs of Amazon businesses.
- Effectively partner with operations and support functions in evaluating current and future business processes and initiatives.
- Serve as a member of a coordinated Loss Prevention team, continuously improving company-wide loss prevention efforts.
- Conduct investigations of internal and external theft and fraud, and perform interviews when appropriate.
- Use tools, data analysis, and collaborate with internal partners to identify inventory defects and create strategic plans to mitigate losses.
- Conduct interior and exterior Loss Prevention audits of the First, Middle, and Last Mile facilities, identifying and addressing security or loss prevention issues.
- Monitor the First, Middle, and Last Mile facilities for compliance with Amazon security and Loss Prevention policies.
- Perform various Loss Prevention inspections, audits, and investigations as required.
- Encourage and promote Loss Prevention within the workforce, exercising integrity and ethical methods.
- Support the development and deployment of cost-effective security systems and solutions to mitigate risks and modus operandi.
- Establish and use risk assessment processes to identify and prioritize risks and mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with law enforcement and industry organizations to protect Amazon’s interests.
- Work closely with vendors, suppliers, and partners to mitigate risks and address vulnerabilities.
- Positively represent the Amazon Security & Loss Prevention department through public relations and customer service; set a personal example of the highest level.
- Demonstrate knowledge of loss prevention best practices in supply chain, distribution, and delivery centers, including the application of physical security systems, investigation techniques/laws of arrest, management of contract guard agencies, and delivery carriers’ loss mitigation techniques.
- Recruit, hire, develop, and retain candidates who raise the performance bar of the security services organization when needed.
- Engage, coach, train, and influence business partners to be an extension of Loss Prevention by equipping them with knowledge to identify leading indicators of Loss Prevention risk and educate them on the appropriate escalation path.
- Ensure that team members understand Amazon, World Wide Security Operations, and Loss Prevention vision and values to align performance with internal and external partners.
- Conduct new hire orientation and training.
