Sarasota County Land Development Services is looking for a motivated individual with a passion for flood protection, water resources and ensuring current development complies with state, and local regulations and ordinances. In this role, you'll review drainage plans, permits, and inspect properties, while supporting Land Development Inspectors and working closely with the Land Development Professional Engineer. Submit your application today and kickstart this exciting career!Review all lot drainage plans submitted to Land Development as part of the building permit process for compliance with the Unified Development Code.Provide on-site inspections of private, public and County owned property; ensures compliance with federal, state and local regulations, statutes and County ordinances. Provides back up support for Land Development Inspectors in their inspection activities.Provide support in the review of site development permit plans and right-of-way use permits.Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
About YouMinimum Qualifications:
Compliance/Maintenance Specialist- Tier II
High School Diploma or its equivalent.Three (3) years total of related experience in inspections.- OR - College or University level training in Solid Waste Management, Recycling, Business Management, Finance, or a highly related field may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required construction experience.Valid Florida driver's license at the time of hire.Compliance/Maintenance Specialist- Tier III
A High School Diploma or its equivalent.Four (4) years total of experience in inspecting.With two (2) years of experience in related inspecting. - OR - College or university-level training in an appropriate field may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required construction experience.Florida Department of Environmental Protection Stormwater, Erosion, and Sedimentation Control Inspector Certification, or will the ability to obtain within six (6) months from date of hire.A valid Florida driver's license at the time of hire.Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to accurately read, understand and interpret specifications on subdivision and drainage plans. Knowledge of methods, materials, tools and equipment common to drainage structure construction. Knowledge of hydrology and hydraulics of stormwater runoff, preparing a survey, construction methods, scheduling, and pavement design.** Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.
About Everything ElseTier II Starting Pay Range: $21.85 - $22.73/hr, based on your experience.
Tier III Starting Pay Range: $23.56 - $25.25/hr, based on your experience.
