Description:
**ABOUT THE ROLE**
All duties are performed in a work-safe manner; plant safety rules are followed and individual works as a team member.
Primary purpose is to operate company owned equipment to transport material in the Chicago market.
Drivers are given primary responsibility of performing all plant and quarry tasks that require the use of equipment.
**WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING**
+ Safety Responsibilities - Understand and comply with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) policies to assume that environmental, health and safety are the first priority of the business. Actively support key safety initiatives at the facility and assist the department as needed to improve EHS performance and results.
+ Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient way, according to policies and procedures
+ Ensure heavy equipment is safely and securely stored
+ Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas.
+ To operate tractor/trailer combinations, in compliance with all state and federal regulations, in a safe and efficient manner.
+ Safely operate mechanical equipment associated with loading and unloading pneumatic trailers according to management direction.
+ Responsible for opening and closing hatches and gates on pneumatic trailer by climbing to top of trailer and/or stooping under trailer in preparation for loading and unloading.
+ Responsible for maintaining clean equipment by using company owned washing facilities, including washing agents that are corrosive and must be handled properly.
**WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR**
Education: High School Diploma/GED
Additional Requirements:
+ While performing the duties of this job the employee must be able to travel through a Aggregate plant, i.e. walk over obstacles, climb stairs and ladders, lift heavy or awkward parts, wear personal protective equipment (hardhat, safety glasses, fall protection, respirators etc.).
+ Must have and maintain a commercial driver’s license.
+ Physically be able to sit for extended periods of time.
+ Physically able to climb on designated ladders on semi-trailers to close and open hatches.
+ Driving record must be clear of violations, Must have basic knowledge for operating diesel engines in order to avoid engine failure
