About the job:

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), within the scope of the Ohio Nurse Practice Act, will provide administrative support and care in an atmosphere sensitive to each person’s physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. The Licensed Practical Nurse, functioning in the spirit of teamwork, under the direction of a provider or Registered Nurse is accountable for the delivery of patient care utilizing the Nursing Process within the standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines of the Organization.

What you will do:

Clinical:

Greet and escort patient to exam roomMeasure and record vital signsRecord patient interview and historyProvide approved patient education materials upon direction of provider or RNPrepare patient for examinations, routine screening tests, and proceduresAssist the provider or RN with procedures as neededPerform phlebotomy and obtains lab specimens as orderedPerform testing to meet regulatory requirements as orderedPerform point of care testing as orderedPerform EKGs as orderedPrepare and administer medications (no IV medications) based on written provider orderChange dressings as orderedRemove sutures/staples as orderedAssist in emergency situations under the direction of the provider.Maintain a clean, well-stocked patient care areaAbide by all federal mandatesMaintain patient confidentiality and abides by all HIPAA guidelines

Administrative:

Screen, refer, route and place phone callsDocument patient care observation and activities according to professional standards and procedures.Prepare patient charts for appointment: files results of tests, procedures and ensures chart completeness.Request previous medical recordsSchedule appointments and tests: pre-certify patients for insurance coverage; set up referral contacts; review requisitions (labs and x-rays) for completenessPrepare and organize department: inspects exam rooms for cleanliness and equipment for condition.Stock supplies as neededTimely and accurately maintain required logs and recordsAttend required in-service trainingMaintain continuing education units as appropriate

What we are looking for:

Graduate of an accredited School of Practical NursingCurrent license in good standing to practice as an practical nurse in the State of Ohio, IV certification requiredOne to two years previous experience preferredEffective Communication SkillsCurrent BLS/CPR and maintain current certificationDemonstrates skills and abilities in clinical and administrative areas including phlebotomy, office lab testing, patient care, injections, vitals and EKG.Exceptional customer service skillsMust be able to work as a member of a teamAbility to work with limited supervision and to make decisions based on established policies and procedures.Basic computer skills required, previous experience with EMR preferred
