Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Possession of a current Louisiana Practical Nurse license, a temporary permit, or a multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state.
Job Concepts

To provide basic nursing care to patients/clients in stable conditions and in predictable situations in accordance with the Professional Nurses Practice Act.
Level of Work:

Close from a Registered Nurse or Practical Nurse of a higher level.
Supervision Exercised:
May exercise functional supervision over paraprofessional nursing personnel.
Location of Work:
Statewide--health care facilities; correctional facilities.

Differs from Practical Nurse--Licensed, 2 by the absence of journeyman level assignments and independent performance of duties.
Examples of Work
Provide Nursing Services within the scope of LPN Licensure, as supervised by RN, to adult clients at Lake Charles Behavioral Health Clinic in collaboration with psychiatrist/prescriber and primary care clinician, staffing cases as necessary. Services include but are not limited to; complete Nursing/Medical Intake/Follow Up; carry out physician orders, Communicate significant observations to treating physician/prescribing provider, Report adverse reactions and side effects to the treating physician/prescribing provider, conduct urine drug screens, measure blood alcohol concentration (BAC), track and complete Episode Tabs as needed, make sure all consents are signed and sent to the appropriate place according to ImCal Policy, complete orders for lab work, EKGs and other paperwork for Telemedcine Providers, ensure all paperwork is scanned according to ImCal Policy, complete Genesight Tests ordered by the providers, staff each pt that arrives late with the provider and follow their orders appropriately, ensure providers have appropriate information and documents for Down Time situations, pregnancy tests, and TB tests, including appropriate follow-up, administering intramuscular injections, measuring vital signs and other pertinent measurements and documenting on Nurses Note; assisting RN with Annual Staff health Screens for TB testing; providing clients with lab orders as needed; providing Mental Health information to clients of IMCAL.
Assisting RN's in the following: answering client messages/calls in a timely manner; calling out new prescriptions and refills as ordered, completing Prior Authorizations as needed; review labs and place in physician mailbox and/or notify physician if lab results warrant; relay client messages to prescriber as needed; answering prescriber ICANotes messages as needed; Guide patients through clinic transitions; Document information regarding patient care and behavior; Coordinate care for high acuity patients, aftercares, PECs; Facilitate community & primary care referrals; As/when clinically appropriate, draft letters and/or complete forms for both ImHealthy Clinic and mental health medication management patients( recommend dismissal from jury duty, etc.) Some paperwork may be completed in a draft or “stem”fashion, for review and signature by the licensed provider; Facilitate discharges and draft discharge summaries for both ImHealthy and medication management patients; Prior authorization requests & denials for Lake Charles; Trains other medical assistants &/or psych techs
Provide specialized HIV Prevention Health counseling and HIV Rapid Testing in accordance with CDC recommended guidelines; collect oral specimens; administer Rapid HIV Testing for Behavioral Health clients; assure appropriate documentation; conduct didactic lectures regarding HIV and prevention measures, including health and nutrition recommendations, TB, HIV, and other STD information; and make appropriate referrals for clients testing positive for HIV.
Attend required trainings, meetings, and staffing as requested by Supervisor and as per IMCAL HSA Policy and Procedure; perform additional duties assigned by Supervisor necessary for effective and efficient LCBHC operations; attend required meetings/trainings as per policy and procedure and as requested by Supervisor to maintain all required competencies; maintain BCLS/CPR certification.
