The H50 Colorectal Surgery Unit focuses on the treatment of patients with Crohn’s Disease, Ulcerative Colitis, Colon Cancer, and genetic bowel diseases. The dedicated caregivers on this unit provide the highest quality, safest care to adult patients. We adhere to a strict patient-to-staff ratio never exceeding 6 patients per caregiver. H50 has a positive, team-oriented and supportive culture with daily 7am huddles for both the night shift and day shift to start/end their shift with an optimistic mindset. Experienced caregivers on H50 are eager to educate newer nurses. A caregiver in H50 can expect to gain a strong medical foundation with true medical/surgical nursing. Become skilled with bladder scans, NGs, Foleys, Wound and Ostomy Care, and can assist with procedures. Ultrasound-guided IV certification is available and supported by leadership.

 

A caregiver in this position works 7:00pm - 7:30am.  

 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

Collect, document and report patient data and observations.  

Implement care plans as directed by an RN and contribute to care plan revisions.  

Administer medications and/or treatments authorized by a provider and observe patients for adverse reactions.   

Perform routine laboratory tests. 

Educate patients and family members.  

 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

Graduate of an accredited practical or vocational nursing program.  

Current Ohio license as a Licensed Practical Nurse.   

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).  

 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

One year of patient care experience.

Physical Requirements:

Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination.Involves extensive standing and walking.Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
