LPN- Coordinator
**SUMMARY:** Coordinates and organizes the scheduling and day-to-day duties for the surgery/recovery department. Including but not limited to completing pre/post operative phone calls and education, assisting the RN with pre/post op care, making surgical charts, managing orders delegated by the RN, arranges supplies, linens, carts and equipment for room set up, and facilitates cleaning between patients. **EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:** + Graduate from a CCNE or NLN accredited nursing program is required. Graduate from an approved nursing program is acceptable. Open to IV Certification. **CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE, and/or REGISTRATIONS:** + Current license to practice in Iowa and/or multi-state licensure as an LPN is required. + Iowa Mandatory Reporter training within three months of employment. + BLS certifications must be acquired within 12 months of employment and must be kept current throughout employment. **ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** + Collaborates and coordinates with the Surgical Nurse Manager. + Able to perform duties within the scope of practice in a surgical setting and work independently. + Provides pre/post op recovery patient care as directed by the RN. + Checks and monitors patient vital signs. + Obtains lab specimens as needed. + Must have knowledge of medications, and may administer medications, within in scope of practice, in a safe and correct manner as ordered by the Physician and through utilization of the Pyxis system. + Maintains records of medical and nursing treatments and related services executed by nursing staff through appropriate and accurate documentation and utilization of the electronic medical record. + Participates in department quality tracking as delegated by the surgical manager. + Works as a team member to ensure quality care to the ORHC’s patients. Able to effectively communicate and act as a liaison with/between other members of the hospital team and the physicians. + Responsible for regular equipment checks in collaboration with biomed.
