The G100 the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Unit focuses on the treatment of complex patients suffering from GI Bleeds, Pancreatitis, Liver Failure, Multi-Organ Failure, Pre-Transplant, Crohn’s Disease, and Gastroparesis.
The dedicated caregivers on this unit provide the highest quality, safest care to adult patients. We adhere to a strict patient-to-staff ration never exceeding 6 patients per caregiver.
G100 has a positive, team-oriented and supportive culture with daily 7am huddles for both the night shift and day shift to start/end their shift with an optimistic mindset.
Experienced caregivers on G100 are eager to educate newer nurses. A caregiver in G100 can expect to gain a strong medical foundation with true medical/surgical nursing.
During Rapid Responses on the unit, you will enhance your critical thinking skills, gain ultrasound experience, and collaborate closely with providers on liver cases. G100 is a great unit to pick up knowledge and grow as a nurse.
G100 is a Gastroenterology and Hepatology Unit that cares for patients with gastrointestinal and liver diseases and pre-transplant patients. Common diagnoses that are treated on this unit include Crohn’s disease, colitis, gastroparesis, gastrointestinal bleeding, pancreatitis, liver failure, complex multi-organ failure, nausea and sepsis.
A caregiver in this position works Nights, 7:00pm—7:30am.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Collect, document and report patient data and observations.
Implement care plans as directed by an RN and contribute to care plan revisions.
Administer medications and/or treatments authorized by a provider and observe patients for adverse reactions.
Perform routine laboratory tests.
Educate patients and family members.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate of an accredited practical or vocational nursing program.
Current Ohio license as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
One year of patient care experience.

Physical Requirements:
Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination.
Involves extensive standing and walking.
Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
