Description\:
Assists physician(s) or mid-level provider(s) in patient care, exhibiting decision making skills for moderately complex issues and a basic understanding of pharmacology. Provides quality patient care, both in the office and over the telephone, as directed by Physician, Non-Physician Practitioner or Practice Management. Performs clerical and general office duties based on knowledge of medical practice procedures and policies.
Duties may include, but are not limited to\:
Assists in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a provider.Triages moderately complex patient calls and issues.Interviews patients, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, height, etc.), and records information on patients' charts.Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients. Administers injections, immunizations, and allergy shots. Performs EKGs and other tests according to office protocol. Performs routine clerical functions, e.g., answering phones, taking off messages, retrieving charts, completing forms, scheduling appointments, etc. After discussing with provider, calls patients to discuss care. Notifying patients of lab results.Assists provider in minor procedures. Prepare soiled instruments and perform sterilization processes as required.Maintains charts and files in an organized and efficient manner. Obtains prior authorizations for medications, as needed. Schedules patients (if applicable).Work Schedule\:
Work week as designated by Andalusia Physician Practices administration. May be required to work extended hours or overtime depending upon patient volume.

Completion of a Licensed Practical Nurse Program – Required
Experience\:

Current license to practice professional nursing and current certification to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Alabama.
Skills\:
