Rate:$24.00-$26.00 / hr. based on experience $1.50 more an hour after 30 days and completion INDNUR Shift Differential: 3pm-11:30pm: $1.00 / hr.11:30pm-7am: $2.00 / hr.
Job Summary
The licensed practical nurse (LPN) works under the close supervision of registered nurses where they perform many of the same tasks as the nursing assistants. In addition to providing basic care to patients, LPNs also perform more advanced duties. These include monitoring the respiration, blood pressure, temperature, oxygen levels and heart rates of their patients. LPNs are also responsible for inserting catheters, treating bedsores, giving injections, administering medications and changing bandages. Experienced LPN’s might be responsible for developing care plans for patients.
Job Responsibilities Utilize nursing knowledge and skills in the safe implementation of basic preventative therapeutic and rehabilitative nursing care of assigned patient/family as evidenced by documentation and observation of positive patient care outcomes. Perform delegated independent nursing functions using established procedures, policies, guidelines and standards as observed by the registered nurse. Administer medication accurately, observing patient response, as evidenced by documentation in the medical record and lack of negative outcomes. Maintain and coordinate communication among patient/significant other, staff and physician as evidenced within medical record, client and health care team feedback. Assist in assuring that effective communication exists with patient/significant other as reflected in the plan of care. Give punctual change of shift report consisting of pertinent and relevant information for assigned patients. Work collaboratively with other members of the health care team in coordination of the patient’s care as evidenced by other department feedback. Use available written and AV materials specific to patient condition or disease. Utilize appropriate teaching methods such as one-on-one and group instruction, demonstration or discussion. Assist patients, family members or other clients with concern and empathy; respect their confidentiality and privacy and communicate with them in a courteous and respectful manner. Answer and refer telephone calls or other inquiries to ensure accurate and timely communications are facilitated. Position Qualifications Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing. Valid registration as an LPN to practice in the same state of the Facility. Completion of relevant state Board of Nursing approved.
