The Psychiatric or Mental/Behavioral Health LPN is responsible and accountable for the application of the nursing process and the delivery of patient care in the psychiatric unit of a hospital, mental health/behavioral health hospital, or they can be responsible for care in community settings.

The LPN must demonstrate the ability to make clinical judgments in an effective and efficient manner with the supervision of a Registered Nurse and in collaboration with the care team.

Minimum Requirements:

Current LPN license in state of assignment 2 year BLS in a psychiatric care setting preferred Current CPR if applicable TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable  Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)  Must meet all federal, state and local requirements  Must be at least 18 years of age  TX STATE FINGERPRINTING IS REQUIRED. HAS TP BE DONE WITHIN 3 BUSINESS DAYS OF OFFER

General Comments Pay package is in position attachments.  BR is the same for local and travel. 
Vacancies:  6a-2p x 1 2p-10p x 1 GTD: 40 hours/week  OT is not guaranteed & not likely. Not ideal for someone wanting OT.  Client does not offer 12 hour shifts. 
MUST BE WILLING TO WORK 3 WEEKENDS PER MONTH PER STATE REQUIREMENT. 
Client will reach out to candidates directly for interview.  We normally have interviews and offers within 48 hours os submission. CNO is out on maternity leave, so feedback may take a little longer. 
Facility is a MASSIVE campus with each unit being in different buildings. Male & female units are separate. Youth are separate from adult/geriatric. Majority of the units are adult/geriatric. Some units are more psych than others. Also have forensic units.   ALL NURSES ARE REQUIRED TO FLOAT TO ALL UNITS – NON-NEGOTIABLE.  Duties of Agency Licensed Vocational Nurse 
Performs advanced vocational nursing work. Provides for the care, treatment, and general welfare of individuals residing at the State Supported Living Center who have complex medical, mental health and/or behavioral health issues. Performs basic and advanced routine and non-routine nursing tasks to promote the health of the individuals within the assigned areas and assigned shift. Collects specimens for lab work and performs health screenings. Instructs direct support professionals and other staff on how to provide service and care that support the individual’s medical needs. Performs technical nursing procedures according to facility and state regulations. Keeps informed of and follows all agency, SSLC and unit/home policies and procedures. Provides direction and assists with on-the-job training to others such as newly hired LVNs and direct care staff. Provides on-the-job nursing instruction and training for new LVNs, within their scope of practice, as requested by RN Supervisor. Monitors, oversees the work of, and assigns work to, LVNs as needed. Evaluates nursing intervention outcomes and provides input to other members of the healthcare team. Assists RNs with implementation of protocols, procedures and programs to improve overall health and safety of staff and individuals. Works under the limited supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
