GENERAL PURPOSE
Provides high quality patient care newborn through geriatrics in an efficient and thorough manner in order to assist patients in regaining their highest level of function with the least amount of pain under the supervision of a Licensed Physical Therapist.

Reporting Accountabilities:
Reports directly to the Director of Rehabilitation Services. May take direction from Staff Physical Therapists.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Utilizes heat, cold, light, water, electricity and therapeutic exercise to provide direct patient care. Reviews patient treatment with a physical therapist on an ongoing basis and receives direction on methods of treatment after assessing patient progress through these discussions.
Monitors patient's condition and progress and brings concerns that may warrant modifications in treatment to the attention of the physical therapist. Able to recognize barriers to the accomplishment of patient's goals.
Decides the most efficient and best way to schedule their patient load for that day.
Enters the appropriate charges for therapy into the computer system. Records daily modality charges.
Records patients progress in the medical record. Progress notes must be made in a timely and efficient manner.
Responsible for reaching daily modality productivity in accordance with national, state and local averages.
Works with the physical therapist a minimum of every twelfth visit to reassess a patient's needs and works with physical therapy aide to schedule patients for treatment. Interacts daily with inpatients, outpatients and other members of the healthcare team to provide and coordinate total patient care.
Attends inservices, hospital wide orientation and other meetings as required.
Exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physician and co-workers. Shows courtesy, compassion and respect to others in the adherence of the hospital's philosophy and policy for promoting a positive work and customer environment.
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Degree from an approved school offering a 2 year associates program as a Physical Therapy Assistant. Must be licensed or license eligible in Virginia.
Experience: Previous experience preferred, however, will accept a new graduate. Must be able to achieve proficiency in six months.
Personal Qualifications: Demonstrates commitment to flexibility in scheduling and relocation when necessary to ensure patient care. Must exhibit courteous communication skills, exercising good judgement in performance of job duties. Present self in a positive manner as reflected by personal attire and etiquette.
