RNs in a LTACH setting specialize in working with critically ill patients. The goal of LTACHs is to help stabilize patients to their baseline health so that they can return to their home and function independently. Responsibilities include, recording vital signs, administering medication, providing specialized treatment for chronic conditions, monitoring ventilators and drips, and treating/dressing wounds.
An LTACH RN participates in patient’s care meetings, manages pain relief, regularly participates in urgent medical procedures, and assesses the needs of the patient’s families while discussing illnesses and treatment plans. LTACH nurses develop strong bonds with their patients and become invested in their success.
Our client may require the following: prior experience in an LTAC setting, AHA BLS, ACLS, PALS.
