LTC OMBUDSMAN
The Long-Term Care (LTC) Ombudsman will collaborate with the State LTC Ombudsman department, ACLS Bureau and MDHHS on long-term care support initiatives. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the provision of assistance and advocacy services to residents of long-term care facilities to resolve complaints through problem identification and definition, education regarding rights, provision of information on appropriate rules, and referrals to appropriate community resources. In addition, the LTC Ombudsman helps prospective long-term care facility residents and their families with placement, and long-term care options. Duties Include: + Consultation/Family Support- Provision of assistance to older adults and their families in understanding, identifying, locating, evaluating, and/or obtaining long-term care services. + Complaint Investigation/Advocacy-recipient, verify, and provide resolution for individual complaints from residents or others acting on their behalf regarding any action which may adversely affect the health, safety, welfare and rights of a long-term care facility resident. + Complaint resolution processes include negotiation, mediation, and conflict resolution skills for developing recommendations to address identified problems and non-complaint related facility visits. + Provide information to the public including long-term care facility residents, regarding all aspects of the long-term care system elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation. + Participate in all AgeWays agency-required meetings, State LTC meetings, continuing education, and certification/designation requirements. + Conduct necessary contract monitoring and reporting. + Other duties as assigned (to view the entire job description, please select the "download" button). Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: + Bachelor Degree in Public Health, Public Administration, Social Work, or Nursing required. Master in related field preferred. + Minimum 3-5 years of experience in Health and Human Services required. + Excellent oral and written, interpersonal, and communication skills. Ability to prioritize, work independently and multi-task. + Knowledge of community based, caregiver and/or respite services. Experience working with older adults and adults with disabilities. + Public speaking is required with the ability to present ideas in a clear, concise manner, facilitate group discussion, and conduct trainings for older adult learners, staff, and the aging network providers. + Intermediate in Microsoft Office skills. Knowledge in technology platforms, including virtual.
