Newmont Tanami is on Aboriginal freehold land 540km northwest of Alice Springs. It is a long-life, low-cost, world-class asset in a core Newmont region. The Tanami Expansion 2 project, aims to extend the mine life beyond 2040, investing in a hoisting shaft which will increase the production of the underground mine from 2.6 Mtpa to 3.2 Mtpa.  Both the successful exploration within the underground operation and implementation of the first Tanami Expansion has laid the foundation to further develop the operation to remain a major contributor to the Newmont portfolio.

Working a 8:6 roster, you can FIFO from Darwin, Alice Springs, Brisbane or Perth and reside in our fully equipped accommodation village.

 

What you will be doing
Reporting to the Mechanical Supervisor in our Mine Maintenance department, you will interact predominantly with the Maintenance and Mining departments to service and maintain our surface and underground light vehicles as well as other ancillary equipment as directed.

 

You will support the Mine Maintenance department by optimising the safety and performance of all mobile plant assets and infrastructure across the Tanami operations and contribute to Newmont’s management, safety and environmental initiatives.

 

In this role you will

Undertake preventative maintenance, repairs and component change outs to mobile equipment.Service and repair light vehicles, bore pumps and motors, assorted trucks and buses.Meet Newmont’s maintenance and production objectives by ensuring all installation and maintenance work is carried out to relevant Australian standards and regulations.Follow safety standards and practices.Keep accurate records of activities.Ensure the workshop and yard are kept tidy and the plant site is left tidy after any work is carried out.Participate in safety and communication meetings.Assist other trades as required.

 

Who you are

Trade qualification in light vehicle / diesel mechanicPost trade experience including experience with Toyota and Isuzu 4WDsAir conditioning and forklift tickets (preferred but not essential)Current HR driver’s licenceMaintenance and fault finding skillsWell-developed problem solving abilitySound computer knowledge (SAP experience preferred but not essential)Self-motivated with good interpersonal skills
