About the Opportunity

Nuclear Power Programmes are delivering client critical works to some of our major UK and European Projects. Our embedded teams are delivering support to Hinkley Point C (New build power station in the South West), Sizewell C (located in the South East), helping develop technologies in SMR (Small modular Reactor) capability and working towards building Poland's first Nuclear Power station.

Working in both client facing and internal roles we are delivering major programme and project management capabilities throughout the project lifecycle. We are driving to deliver safe, high quality and to time solutions by thinking innovatively and working collaboratively.

We are seeking Electrical Engineers to work as part of our embedded Teams supporting the Hinkley Point C Project.  Our team will support you and develop you in the role, even if you haven’t experienced all aspects of this type of role previously. This is a full-time role responsible for delivery of discipline engineering scope on a major EPC project (typical TIC £500m ). 

Reporting to an Engineering Lead within the Review & Acceptance Branch of the JDO, the post-holder will be an Electrical Engineer, contributing to the review and acceptance of engineering queries raised by the site Contractor on the electrical scope across the CI/BOP and Nuclear Island buildings.

The role will be focused on the electrical discipline but will be interfaced with other disciplines and with several parties, such the site Contractors (composed of main suppliers and sub-suppliers), Construction teams, Quality teams, Project Management teams, or Design teams (embedded within the JDO organisation on site, or in back office).

Key Responsibilities

Responding to General Queries, Non-Conformances, Change Request, and Exemption Requests originating from the MEH Contractor on site, with the support of the Responsible Designer or site Experts when needed. Provide adequate oversight to ensure the Nuclear Safety and Environmental Regulation requirements are met. Challenge design decisions so that engineering and design aligns with the project strategy. Assist in co-ordinating support from other external organisations. Contribute to the resolution and closure of Open Points. Assess technical risk and subsequently address this risk Maintain a strong relationship with EDF EPR Engineering *

Experience in electrical design, installation and/or commissioning. Experience applying multi-disciplinary technical knowledge within the nuclear industry. Knowledge of the construction / installation industry. Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation including CDM and Nuclear Site License requirements. Experience in the understanding of welding engineering. Ability to influence a diverse range of stakeholders, particularly those in a site environment. Ability to work independently, be pro-active, report on and escalate relevant issues.
