CIMMYT is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated, and service-oriented professional for the position of Field Research Technician, Pathology to work in the Global Wheat Program (GWP).
The positions will be based at CIMMYT’s headquarters in Texcoco, near Mexico City.
Specific duties:
Extensively participate in field operations such as sowing, management, disease inoculation, disease evaluation, and harvest. Execute greenhouse work, such as wheat disease experiments at seedling or adult plant stages, fungal virulence experiments, and seed multiplication. Execute laboratory work such as collection, characterization and maintenance of fungal pathogens, inoculum preparation, DNA extraction, molecular marker diagnosis, and mycotoxin contamination evaluation. Participate in the collection of agronomic data of crops using measurement instruments assigned to the unit. Participate in warehouse work like seed storage and preparation. Interaction with fellow workers, visitors and students from Mexico as well as foreign countries.
