The compliance coordinator ensures that behavioral health services meet all federal, state, and local regulations. This position is responsible for implementing comprehensive compliance strategies designed to uphold the highest standards in the delivery of behavioral health care to the community. Key responsibilities include conducting regular audits and assessments to evaluate adherence to regulatory requirements, identifying areas for improvement, and proposing effective solutions to enhance compliance. The coordinator will also facilitate training sessions for staff members to ensure they are knowledgeable about compliance policies and procedures, fostering a culture of ethical practice within the organization. In collaboration with various stakeholders, including behavioral healthcare providers, administrative staff, and external regulatory agencies, the compliance coordinator will promote transparency and accountability in all operations.

Maintains a constant state of readiness and compliance for accreditation and other regulatory entities. Actively monitors legislative changes and industry standards related to compliance in behavioral health to ensure MBH’s practices are aligned with the latest requirements. Conducts regular audits of client records, increasing the audit coverage from 5% to 10%. This includes verifying that all documentation adheres to standards and policies. Leads training sessions for clinicians to foster a better understanding of compliance issues. This initiative will cover the quality standards necessary to support an effective behavioral health program and instill a sense of accountability among all team members. Serves as the primary point of contact during external audit. Prepare necessary documentation and coordinate the flow of information to ensure the audit process is efficient and effective, minimizing disruptions. Works closely with the directors, managers, and other stakeholders to implement strategies that promote compliance, quality assurance, and ongoing documentation improvement across MBH. Facilitates the review, input, and management of policies and procedures in accordance with organizational expectations. Utilizes organizational tools necessary to conduct root cause analysis and provide consultation for performance improvement opportunities to ensure quality of care Coordinates the implementation of systematic approaches to documentation that enhance accuracy and completeness. This will involve promoting guidelines for record maintenance and encouraging adherence to best practices among staff. Establishes feedback loops to gather insights on compliance challenges faced by staff, allowing for adaptive strategies that address issues. Performs other related work as required or requested. Required Experience

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, health care administration, or a related field.  

Licensure/Certification/Registry:

Leans Six Sigma Green Belt preferred.

Experience:

Experience in behavioral health service delivery or healthcare compliance preferred. Familiarity with regulations and standards relevant to behavioral health preferred.

Proficiency in conducting audits and monitoring programs to ensure adherence to regulatory standards preferred.

Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to address and resolve compliance issues related to behavioral health regulations effectively.

Competence in Microsoft Outlook programs including Word and Excel, and other electronic applications including the electronic healthcare record.
