The Position

Primary Purpose of Job

● Provides leadership, strategic direction, therapeutic area expertise and oversight in the delivery of clinical trials to Roche quality standards, timelines and budget commitments.
● Provide functional management, coaching and development of the direct reports and identifies and implements areas of best practice and process improvements, as a leader within the MED&PHC.
● Strengthen customer engagement in the clinical projects by building up and continuously improving the capability and capacity of CSM team to ensure high quality scientific engagement

Principle Roles & Responsibilities / Accountabilities

● Accountable within the local leadership team for the oversight of the departments, definition of the local vision and strategy, effective mobilisation of the function to align with the strategy, ensuring awareness of opportunities and challenges, fostering of functional excellence, evaluation of metrics and developing operational performance improvements.
● Accountable as key strategic local TA experts and interfaces with internal and external stakeholders for early landscaping, planning, execution and delivery of the assigned TA portfolio to agreed plans and quality while proactively communicating status, issues and proposed solutions.
● Accountable for delivery of clinical trials including the planning, execution and delivery of assigned studies of portfolio to agreed timelines, plans and quality, proactively communicating status, issues and proposed solutions.
● Ensures oversight and clear communication to direct reports to drive portfolio delivery and proactively addresses issues to ensure overall business goal delivery. Escalates accordingly to resolve issues impacting studies for which they have oversight.
● Engages relevant stakeholders to drive country clinical trial performance with a customer mindset.
● Creates and maintains a highly motivated team by providing a high level of leadership, people management, coaching and development. Ensures effective performance management of direct reports through comprehensive goal setting, regular performance reviews, and by providing direct and timely feedback to direct reports. Foster a high performance culture that attracts and retains the best talent.

● Proactively fosters a diverse and inclusive culture within the department that is flexible, agile and collaborative and acts as a role model for these behaviors within the department.
● Provides resource management and oversight across their teams, in close collaboration with other stakeholders to ensure sufficient, appropriately-qualified and trained resources are identified and allocated to studies, and that resource development is aligned to overall project priorities.
● Ensures direct reports have completed all mandatory training and that they have the knowledge and expertise required to conduct studies in accordance with ICH/GCP standards, Roche SOPs and quality standards, local operating guidelines and local regulatory requirements.
● Provides input into the development of functional strategy and objectives, and proactively monitors country goal delivery to ensure efficiency and high performance of their team.
● As required, manages and oversees the relationship with suppliers of contract Roche staff, ensuring staff provided by vendors are properly trained according to regulations and Roche SOPs, that the contribution of the contracted staff is maximized and Roche’s legal and regulatory position is protected.
● Proactively contributes to the local leadership team and ensures direction provided is aligned across all therapeutic area strategies, as applicable.
● Participates in appropriate and approved local and/or global functional initiatives.
● As a leader within MED&PHC, consistently delivers upon the Roche Leadership Commitments to their direct reports.

Qualification and Experience

Education/Qualifications
Master degree or equivalent, preferably in a medical/science-related field. Minimum of 6 years’ experience to work in Clinical Operation and 2 years of people management is preferred.
