The Mac UI and Compositing team is focused on making the Mac the most flexible, responsive, and powerful platform in the world. We specialize in display management, reducing frame drops, power consumption and interaction latency, while enabling other Apple frameworks and HI to create new ways for Mac users to interact with their systems. Our team is looking for a software engineer that is as passionate about displays and performance as we are, with a strong background in systems or OS framework engineering.
**Description**
This position is an opportunity to have a huge impact on Mac, contributing to the design and development of a new unified displays framework written in Swift. Display management includes display tracking, configuration and display frame submissions, meaning we are involved in all user interaction at multiple points every time a user interacts with their Mac. You will be expected to dive into components across the Mac operating system to debug complicated performance issues dealing with all display configuration, state and frame presentation and more. You will also be ensuring that low power paths, such as video playback and other light workloads use as little power as possible, helping to extend customer battery life. A careful eye for detail will be required, as you will be working on critical system components, where crashes and memory leaks are not acceptable.
**Minimum Qualifications**
+ 5+ years of development experience
+ Strong background in C/C++ BS or MS Degree or equivalent experience

+ Knowledge of display and display subsystems
+ Experience debugging difficult issues that involve multiple system components
+ Knowledge of Swift
+ Knowledge of system development and/or device driver development
+ Passion for root causing problems and finding the best solutions
+ Eagerness to work across multiple teams to make system improvements
+ Experience debugging performance problems
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills
