You will have the chance to create algorithms and architectures of wireless communication systems, as well as collaborate with extraordinary HW, SW designers and architects to implement, verify, validate and bring up SoC products to production quality, providing them to millions of Apple customers!DescriptionDescriptionIn this role, core responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: • Designing and simulating wireless communication systems for very high data rate applications focusing on MAC layer system design and optimizations • Analyzing and improving the efficiency of wireless MAC layer protocols, focusing on throughput, latency and overall network performance • Implementing MAC system models and investigating algorithms for performance enhancements, design and validate them to allow performance sign-off and enable system developments. Defining the control procedures of the MAC layer hardware modules to achieve robust and optimal performance throughput and latency • Collaborating with PHY system team and cross-functional teams to integrate MAC layer algorithms into system architecture • Collaborating with firmware designers to realize these methods with high efficiency software implementation and possibly with using hardware acceleration • Bringing up, testing, characterizing and optimizing real silicon in the lab • Documenting design processes and performance outcomes, providing detailed reports and insights for continuous improvementsMinimum QualificationsMinimum QualificationsBSc and 3+ years of relevant experienceExperience in crafting signal processing and wireless communications systemsWorking knowledge of wireless systems and hands-on experience with lab testing and characterizationExperience with Python and/or C/C++ for algorithm development, modeling, simulation and test-bench infrastructureKey QualificationsKey QualificationsPreferred QualificationsPreferred QualificationsStrong understanding of BT MAC layer protocolWorking knowledge, involving hands-on experience of BT systemsKnowledge in existing wireless communication protocols, such as Bluetooth/BLEExperience in modem architecture, microprocessor architecture, hardware and software controlExperience of SoC design and validation to support wireless communication systemExperience on low-power algorithm design for power critical applicationExperience with multi-radio coexistence managementExperience and knowledge on High-Level Synthesis (HLS), silicon prototyping, emulation systems and virtual platformsExperience with network simulator such as OPNET, NS2 or NS3 is a plusExperience on bring up of real silicon in lab and being able to efficiently use lab equipment (such as spectrum analyzer, signal generator, power meter, etc.)Education & ExperienceEducation & ExperienceAdditional RequirementsAdditional RequirementsMore
