SUMMARY

Assembles, repairs, maintains, designs and fabricates parts for assembly machinery by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

Construction, repair and general maintenance of assembly machinery.  Repairs or replaces defective parts.

Installs special structural parts in assembly machinery.

Set up and operate manual mills, manual lathes, power saws, drills, grinders, sanders, welding equipment, some CNC, etc.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

One to three months' related experience and/or training.  Must pass skills assessment.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Ability to operate:  Mills, lathes, grinders, sanders, saws, presses, drills, welders, sand blasters, breaks, hoist and crane, hand tools, micrometers, calipers, volt/ohn meter.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.  The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
