Machine Learning Adjunct Professor- Master of Quantitative Economics

The UCLA Master of Quantitative Economics program (MQE) invites applications for an Adjunct Professor with domain expertise in machine learning emphasizing applications to the fields of economics and finance for the Winter 2025 quarter (instruction dates: January 6, 2025 - March 14, 2025).

The adjunct professor will develop and teach applied Machine Learning course(s) within the Master of Quantitative Economics program.
Responsibilities of the position will include developing the syllabus and course; delivering lectures and applied lessons; holding regularly scheduled weekly office hours; being responsive and helpful to students; developing and grading assignments and providing guidance to students involved in co-curricular applied projects.


Applicants are expected to have:
• Doctoral degree or higher in economics, data analytics, statistics, computer science, electrical engineering or equivalent
• Experience applying a variety of machine learning techniques in industry, such as supervised and unsupervised learning, regression, classification, clustering, and deep learning. Applications in economics and finance are a strong plus
• Excellent verbal communication skills, capable of leading lectures of 75+ students
• Advanced knowledge of the application of technical or mathematical concept to professional settings
• Demonstrated research and service experience within an academic or industry setting
