Job Description – Machine Operator I
Summary of the Position:
The Machine Operator I, works safely to operate and maintain one machine, and ensures it is running efficiently with minimum supervision.
Functions of the Position:
% of Time Essential (E) or Marginal (M) Functions Performed
50% E Sets up machine-loading and monitors to ensure it is running efficiently.
10% E Follows work order, quality controls and sanitation procedures concerning weights, packs, descriptions, code date, cleanup and changeovers.
10% E Performs quality control and material waste checks.
5% E Directs/instructs machine line personnel in specific job duties.
5% E Performs pre-operational checks.
5% E Maintains and exceeds production, quality and safety standards.
5% E Loads product into hopper.
5% M Cleans machine properly after production runs or changeovers.
5% M Maintains a clean, organized and safe work area.
Continually · Responsible for manufacturing, distributing and consistently maintaining safe and quality food by following current good manufacturing practices, allergen/sanitation controls, food defense/food fraud, HACCP/FSMA, SQF, and regulatory requirements. · Aware and accountable for maintaining and documenting preventative controls necessary to ensure food safety and quality. · Responsible for immediately reporting all food safety and quality issues to management. · Responsible for partnering with others, sharing knowledge, skills, and information within assigned team and across functional areas.
· Responsible for enhancing technical and functional competencies, as well as professional and leadership development. · Responsible to comply with all safety policies and procedures established for health and workplace safety. · Responsible to support safety culture by practicing safe work behaviors, reporting potential hazards, and conducting safety observations.
Qualifications:
Education, Experience, and Knowledge:
· Prior manufacturing work experience is a plus
· Prior industrial truck experience a plus.
· Prior machine operator experience a plus.
Skills and Competencies:
· Capable of following verbal and written directions.
· Basic math skills
· Ability to speak and read in English
· Mechanical ability
· Good manual dexterity, vision and mobility
· Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
Job Specific Requirements:
This position is subject to mandatory overtime based on business needs.
In the event that the Machine Operator I is absent, the Shift Supervisor is responsible for providing an equally qualified person to cover this position.
