**Machine Operator** **Job Description** As a Machinist Trainee, you will be taught how to set up and operate CNC Machines, manual mills, and manual lathes to produce precision parts in a timely manner. You will work closely with a trainer, who will guide you step by step on machine operations. This role offers a great opportunity to learn the machining trade while getting paid. **Responsibilities** + Position and fasten workpieces + Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto the machine + Select appropriate tools and materials to be used + Machine parts to specifications + Set up, adjust, and operate basic machine tools + Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and gauges + Read and understand gauging sheets + Read and interpret blueprints and listen to machine and tooling to ensure proper operation + Follow onboarding system (5S program, hazard assessment, log in and out of jobs, safety, data sheet system) + Practice proactive safe lifting and how to use the hoist + Take detailed notes to refer back to them **Essential Skills** + Mathematical skills (converting fractions to decimals) + Mechanical aptitude + Ability to work with hands + Trainability and good attitude + Machine operation + Hand tool experience + Blueprint reading and interpretation **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Military or farm experience + Associate's degree in machine operating + Experience working on automobiles + Ability to read and interpret blueprints or willingness to learn **Why Work Here?** This is a great opportunity for someone wanting to learn the machining trade. The company invests in their employees and truly cares about their well-being. **Work Environment** The work environment includes various shifts: Night shift (M-Th 7:30 pm - 6 am), Weekend Day shift (Fri-Sun 6 am - 6:30 pm), and Weekend Night shift (Fri-Sun 6 pm - 6:30 am). Some overtime is required, with a 24-hour notice when possible. The company has approximately 165 employees and operates in a large machine shop with multiple buildings and large equipment.
