Job Description

The Extruder Operator will supervise and train extruder technicians on their shift, fill in for the Extruder Operator during time off, and ensure smooth operation of extrusion machinery.

ResponsibilitiesSet up and operate the machine according to instructions, specifications, and standard charts.Prepare work orders and other specifications to ensure the proper setup sequence is followed.Select, place, and secure tools.Place and secure the parts of the equipment in the proper place.Prepare fixtures and feeding devices, start the machine, and engage the feed.Observe each machine to verify quality performance.Verify measuring instruments such as rulers and calipers are in proper working order.Set and adjust necessary controls to regulate the machine.Sharpen tools with bench grinder as needed.Handle preventative maintenance.Train extruder technicians.Create documentation and specifications for machine settings (HACCP).Perform other related duties as assigned.Essential SkillsProven experience as a machine operator (5 years).Working knowledge of diverse high-speed machinery and measurement tools (caliper, micrometer, etc.).Ability to lift 75 lbs.Ability to speak and read English fluently.Ability to stand, walk, and bend for 5-7 hours each day.Willingness to work weekends (Saturday) to perform Preventative Maintenance at least once a month.Understanding of production procedures.Adherence to health and safety regulations (e.g., constant use of protective gear, PPE).Ability to work with other departments and follow guidelines.Ability to read and follow SOPs and manuals.Analytical skills.Attention to detail.Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.Ability to drive a forklift and scissor lift (training available in-house).Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and other machining equipment.Teamwork and communication skills.Physical stamina and strength.Additional Skills & QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent; a technical degree is a plus.Knowledge of extrusion processes and machinery.Ability to read schematics and pneumatics.Mechanical aptitude.Why Work Here?

Work Environment

You will work in a manufacturing environment with high-speed machinery and a focus on safety. The role requires adherence to health and safety regulations, including the constant use of protective gear. The position involves standing, walking, and bending for extended periods and the ability to lift up to 75 lbs. The work schedule includes weekends for preventative maintenance at least once a month.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $54080.00 - $56160.00/yr.
