About the Position
We are seeking a skilled mid-level CNC Lathe Operator to join our manufacturing team at Boart Longyear. In this role, you will be responsible for operating CNC lathes to machine precision drill rods used in mineral exploration. This position offers an opportunity to work with advanced manufacturing equipment in a dynamic production environment.

ScheduleMonday to Thursday, 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM (4-day work week, 10-hour shifts)Overtime on Fridays as needed (mandatory when required)
Primary Responsibilities:Operate CNC lathes to produce drill rod components according to specificationsChange and adjust lathe programs between different part runsMonitor machining processes and make necessary adjustments to maintain qualityChange cutting inserts in the lathe as neededUse thread gauges and other measuring instruments to verify product quality and dimensionsOperate forklifts to move raw materials and finished goods around the facilityStrap and package bundles of drill rod for shippingChange robot grippers as needed when switching between different rod sizesMaintain a clean and organized work areaFollow all safety protocols and proceduresCollaborate with Quality and Maintenance departments as needed
Required Qualifications:2-5 years of experience operating CNC lathesAbility to read and understand blueprintsAbility to use precision measuring instruments including thread gaugesUnderstanding of machining processes and cutting toolsProficiency in reading, writing, and communicating in EnglishPhysical ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periodsStrong attention to detail and commitment to qualityReliable attendance and ability to work assigned shiftsAbility to work effectively in a small team environment
Preferred Qualifications:Forklift operating experience (training available for qualified candidates)Prior experience in machining threadsExperience with robotics systems and automated manufacturing cellsKnowledge of G-code and basic CNC programmingMechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skillsExperience with strapping and packaging operations would be a plus
Working Conditions:Manufacturing environment with exposure to machine noise, cutting fluids, and metal shavingsWill require wearing personal protective equipment including safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toed boots
