2nd Shift (3:30 pm - 2:00 am; M-Th)
Starting Wage $21.08/hr + $1 shift differential
The Machine Operator is an Individual Contributor responsible for the setup and operation of various pieces of equipment, including a Straightener to straighten and square pole shafts, cutting equipment/machinery to ensure poles meet final length and diameter, and material handling equipment.
Essential Functions
Responsible for machine set up, including setting rollers to specified lengths, and verifying dimensions from shop drawingsObserve operation and periodically verify conformance of machined work to process sheet, specifications and blueprint dataMaintain the cleanliness of work area including all equipment and machineryUse overhead crane to load/unload machineryAbility to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) and work both in a non-temperature controlled environment and outdoorsOther duties as required and/or assignedImportant Details about the Role
Setup, operate, and perform general maintenance of equipment without difficultyMake mathematical calculations in preparing product or setting up the machineryRead and decipher blueprints and flat sheets without assistanceAccountable and responsible for essential tools and equipment provided along with the maintenance of these tools and equipmentActively participates in department safety, demonstrates excellent safety practices and behaviors which conform to all Valmont safety policies and proceduresThis position reports to the Production SupervisorRequired Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
The ability to calculate simple mathematics and interpret shop drawingsThe ability to become Valmont trained and certified in the operation of an overhead craneThe ability to read a tape measureThe ability to recognize and solve practical problems or issuesThe ability to work in a team environment with a diverse group of peopleThe ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructionsThe ability to meet production, safety, and quality standards in a high-paced working environmentThe ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with most frequent lift up to 20 poundsHigh awareness for safety at all timesWear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required in the production facilityRead blueprints and specificationsMaintain a safe and productive working environment
Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED equivalentOne (1) year of previous experience in a heavy manufacturing or fabrication environmentOne (1) year of previous experience with overhead crane operationsThe ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive mannerDemonstrate a commitment to Safety through excellent safety practices and behaviors by conforming to all Valmont safety policies and proceduresMust be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional resultsBenefits
