Summary

Assure efficient manufacturing of a quality product that meets or exceeds customer expectations.

 

Responsibilities:

Perform changeovers and completes changeover setup formArranges assistance for changeoverResponsible for the cleaning of blenders and other equipment for material changesPre-blend and oversee the blending or mixing of resins in off-line as well as on lineCompletes paperwork for production sheet, labor log, scrap sheet and daily functional check sheetMake sure scrap gets weighed and recorded on shift paperwork or entered into MRP systemSet all secondary equipment (printer, punches, venting, portable winders, etc.) and test functionality to assure proper set-up and operationWatches for and reacts to stack light alertsSupports and complies with safety and environmental guidelinesMake machine adjustments as needed to maintain required product quality and/or as identified by Packer/InspectorImplements Berry incident protocol for medical assistance and applies first aid if trainedIdentifies equipment shortfalls and completes maintenance request formsCloses orders in system when completeIdentifies and strives to meet expected rates or standards of production and notes correct variance code in systemCollects, weighs and documents all scrap; enters in systemAssures that repro is being run into product at predeterminedBill of Materials adjustments and correctionsWorks a 12-hour day, 3 & 4 days a week (84 hours every two weeks); weekend work is mandatoryMaintains housekeeping throughout production areaHelps Team relieve breaksPerforms and document 2-hour quality checksPerform other related functions and duties as assigned or required

Secondary Responsibilities include:

Continue to check run rates.Performs quality checks front to back (resins, silos, computer info., blender settings, etc.)Ensures tools are in proper locationEnsures axillary equipment is in working condition (press, vents V-board, etc.)Ensures the ink room is in proper orderCleans around extruders and blendersDocuments any maintenance and safety concernsPerform all duties of a Utility Qualifications

High school diploma or GED equivalent

Ability to handle & resolve problems

2-5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment with extrusion experience preferred

Ability to adhere to Berry's Safety, Health and Environmental Vision, Policy, and Standards

Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills

Basic math skills

Ability to read, write, follow written and verbal instructions and specifications in English to complete required forms and verify quality products are produced

Ability to read a ruler, tape measure, and gauge caliper device to 1/8"

Ability to work independently

Ability to work in warm, humid and cool climates for 12 or more hours per day or night

Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) which includes safety glasses, safety goggles, hearing protection, steel toe shoes/boots, face shield, gloves, and face mask

Ability to work overtime, holidays, weekends, days or nights, for 12 or more hours

Ability to stand, sit, kneel, bend, stoop, climb, reach and crawl for extended periods multiple times per day

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted

Must have good vision, eye-hand coordination, and hearing

Must have manual dexterity involving total wrist action, twisting, pulling andraising arms at or above shoulder height

Must be punctual, on-time and present at work space when shift starts

Must not be afraid of heights
