Machine/Press Operator

Job Description:

Location: Portland, Maine

We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Press Operator to join our team in Portland ME. In this role, you will be responsible for operating multi-color printing presses, ensuring smooth production runs, performing maintenance, and meeting both company and customer quality standards. The ideal candidate will have experience with machine operation, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining a clean and safe working environment.

Responsibilities:

– Read and confirm job tickets with purchase orders.
– Interpret special instructions for layout of process color work.
– Review samples if included in the job ticket.
– Ensure the correct type of stock and quantity is available.
– Set up the press, including hanging plates and adjusting feeder/delivery units.
– Ink up the press by filling ink wells and water tanks, mixing chemical solutions, and adjusting ink fountains.
– Request press checks as needed.
– Monitor the press during production and make necessary adjustments.
– Maintain water systems, change filters, and clean units.
– Refill press bottles with chemicals and ensure they are properly labeled.
– Record production data, including impressions, production time, and lot specifications.

Desired Background/Skills:

– Ability to work with conventional water systems and troubleshoot mechanical or ink/water problems.
– Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret special instructions.
– Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced digital production environment with tight deadlines.
– Previous press operation experience is preferred, but we will train the right candidate.

Other Information:

Location: Portland, ME
Salary: $20 – $23/hr
Shift: Monday – Thursday, 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM (10-12 hour shifts)
