Machine Shop Inspector (EPFAB-2025-22269)

 

Bowhead is seeking a Machine Shop Inspector to support the Engineering/Prototype shop at NSWCDD(Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division.)

 

We will be hiring at level 2, level 3 or level 4. Please indicate which level you have the experience for when submitting this application:

Level 2 must have at least three (3) years of professional technical experience programming/operating CMMs (Schooling/training may be considered as experience). Level 2 hourly rate is $27.70/hrLevel 3 must have at least five (5) years of professional technical experience programming/operating CMMs (Schooling/training may be considered as experience). Level 3 hourly rate is $30.98/hrLevel 4 must have at least eight (8) years of professional technical experience programming/operating CMMs (Schooling/training may be considered as experience). Level 4 hourly rate is $38.39/hr

Responsibilities

The Machine Shop Inspector must have CMM programming/operating experience and an understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).  Must be proficient with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred) and accurately operate precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, etc. Machining experience is highly desired.

 

Qualifications Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.We will be hiring at level 2, level 3 or level 4. SolidWorks will be considered a bonus during position selection.Intermediate-level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, and Outlook.Capable of reading and interpreting DoD drawings, including GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.)Fully capable of using precision measuring tools such as dial calipers, height gauges, and micrometers.Ability to communicate effectively with all employees, customers, and management levels and respond to instructions/assignments.Must be able to perform inspection duties with little supervision.Must be able to read, write, and speak English.Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team.Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the Secret level. Bowhead will assist in this process upon hiring. US Citizenship is a requirement for a Secret clearance at this location.Must be able to lift to 75 pounds, stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time, and be able to twist, bend, and squat periodically.

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED: Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location. Acquiring a clearance will be done with the assistance of Bowhead upon hiring unless the candidate already possesses a clearance.
