This class requires a general knowledge of several related skill fields such as plumbing, electrical, welding, and machinist work.** **PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES** + **This individual will inspect, maintain and repair mechanical facilities.** + **Perform preventive maintenance and repair on all types of mechanical equipment.** + **Inspect and test mechanical systems.** + **Operate machine shop equipment including engine laths, drill press, grinder, milling machine, hydraulic press to fabricate equipment parts.** + **Perform preventive maintenance and repair on motor vehicles and heavy** + **construction equipment, gas and diesel.** + **Operate a variety of hand tools. Assist faculty with fabrication and operation of experimental equipment and apparatus.** + **Drive service truck as required; load and unload materials and supplies.** + **May lead and instruct helpers.** **MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSFull journey status as a Machinery Mechanic by work experience, vocational, or trade school, or apprenticeship programs, or any combination of the above; or, four years of applied work experience. Vocational training may substitute for work experience on a year-for-year basis.
