This position is for Parker Hannifin’s Composite Sealing Systems Division, located in San Diego (Otay Mesa), California. GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Machining Associate I operates CNC machines to manufacture metal parts while adhering to safety and quality standards. This role involves learning to perform machining tasks such as drilling, milling, and understanding specifications by reading blueprints and mechanical drawings. The Machining Associate I loads raw materials onto CNC machines, sets them for efficient production cycles, and supervises machine operations. The Machining Associate I inspects and measures finished products against specifications, performs deburring as needed, and conducts daily maintenance to ensure machinery functionality. Collecting production data for reporting purposes is also essential. Attention to detail is crucial, along with the ability to escalate issues to site leadership when necessary. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: + Operate CNC machines to perform tasks such as drilling, milling, etc. + Ability to understand specifications by reading blueprints, mechanical drawings, etc. + Load raw materials and parts onto CNC machines. + Set machines to complete full cycles to fabricate required number of parts. + Supervise the machines while tasks are executed and ask site leadership for support make any necessary adjustments to produce a better result. + Inspect and measure finished products and compare against specifications to ensure conformance. + Deburr parts per specification requirements using hand-held tools. + Check and maintain machinery daily to ensure functionality. + Collect daily production data and enter into the computer and required databases. + Follow established safety and environmental policies, procedures, and methods applicable to the work area. + Perform other duties as necessary. QUALIFICATIONS: Education: + High school diploma or general education degree (GED) Experience: + 1+ years of experience with CNC operation + 1+ years of manufacturing experience Skills: + Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. + Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. + Ability to work and train from verbal and written instructions. + Ability to speak, read, and write in English. + Ability to maintain a clean and organized work area to promote efficiency and safety. + Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations for measurements and quantities. + Ability to adapt to changing tasks and work assignments in a fast-paced setting. + Ability to understand and adhere to quality standards in production processes. + Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly with colleagues. Physical Demands: + Ability to lift up to 35 pounds regularly. + Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time. + Ability to frequently bend, stoop, and reach for extended periods of time. + Ability to use hands and fingers for detailed work over extended periods of time. + Ability to perform repetitive tasks with a focus on accuracy and efficiency for extended periods of time. + Ability to wear required PPE throughout the entirety of the shift. + Ability to use power tools and heavy machinery. Compensation is based on a variety of factors, candidate experience, qualifications, location as well as market and business considerations. Pay Range: $20.75 - $31.50 per hour.
