As a Machining Engineer, you will be responsible for keeping the machining lines moving through continuous improvement projects, lean manufacturing, and troubleshooting/modifying CNC Machines and PLCs. You will perform time studies, labor studies, defect reduction studies, process control changes, and cost-saving projects to ensure the line runs as efficiently as possible. This is a very hands-on position, requiring experience with both automated CNC Machines, PLCs, and Manual Machines and Tooling. We seek someone eager and willing to take ownership of the process.
Responsibilities
+ Keep machining lines operational through troubleshooting and modifying CNC Machines and PLCs.
+ Lead continuous improvement projects to enhance efficiency and reduce defects.
+ Conduct time studies, labor studies, and defect reduction studies.
+ Implement process control changes and cost-saving projects.
+ Perform CNC programming and tooling optimization.
+ Ensure quality improvements and cycle time reductions.
+ Collaborate with Production, Maintenance, and Quality personnel.
+ Create technical reports and documentation.
Essential Skills
+ Experience with CNC Machining and PLC Programming.
+ Ability to troubleshoot and modify CNC Machines and PLCs.
+ Knowledge of machining processes and CNC programming, preferably in engine manufacturing.
+ Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial) or 5+ years of equivalent professional automotive experience.
+ Knowledge of PLCs, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
+ Experience with reading part drawings and GD&T.
+ Experience implementing cycle time and quality improvements.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with special processes like Grinding, Induction Hardening, and Laser Cladding is a plus.
+ Strong written and oral communication skills.
+ Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
+ Ability to work independently and hands-on as needed.
+ Experience managing small to medium-scale capital projects.
+ Self-starter, team player with a positive attitude.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and Inventor.
Work Environment
The position is based in an engine manufacturing plant where 4, 6, and Twin Turbo cylinder motors are machined and assembled. The facility is 1.5 million sq. ft. and primarily automated, divided into machining lines and assembly lines. The Machining line contains 230 machines, both manual and automated. You will spend 80% of your time on the manufacturing floor and 20% in a cubicle desk.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $36.05 - $45.00/hr.
