GENERAL PURPOSE
Under general supervision, coordinate daily production activities to achieve departmental and organizational goals. Responsibilities include assigning tasks, ensuring production schedules are met, determining output requirements, and coordinating efforts with other departments. Train and assist operators with both new and existing products, troubleshoot issues with team members, and promote continuous improvement initiatives. Perform all duties with a strong focus on safety for oneself and others. Support the Work Team Leader in managing daily departmental operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Coordinate daily departmental activities for employees and temporary staff, including planning shifts, assigning tasks, and managing line staffing.
Communicate daily team and individual performance updates to the Work Team Leader and provide input on corrective actions when necessary.
Integrate new employees into the team by coordinating job assignments, safety training, quality training, and job-specific onboarding.
Influence team performance by gaining commitment, holding individuals accountable, and fostering collaboration.
Maintain a clean and safe working environment in compliance with 5S principles and department safety guidelines.
Demonstrate flexibility to adapt to team, departmental, and plant-wide goals.
Provide back-up support to the Work Team Leader as needed.
Monitor individual safety practices and adherence to quality standards.
Participate in MillerKnoll Production System (MKPS) improvement initiatives within the current or other departments as appropriate.
Commit to meeting overtime requirements.
Perform additional responsibilities as needed to achieve business objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience
One of the following is required: (1) High school diploma or its equivalent (GED for example), (2) work experience which demonstrates performance competency
5 - 10 years of experience in a machine room environment, including CNC machining.
Skills and Abilities
In-depth knowledge of various lumber species and experience using glue reels (preferred).
Competency in basic math skills, including addition and subtraction.
Proficiency in reading, understanding, and interpreting written and verbal instructions, policies, and work documentation in English.
Strong teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams to achieve goals.
Demonstrated adaptability to a constantly changing work environment.
Reliable attendance and a commitment to team success.
Flexibility to accept varying assignments and adjust working hours as business needs dictate.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with professionalism in both verbal and written interactions.
Proven leadership skills, with the ability to resolve conflicts in a team setting.
Strong organizational and planning abilities.
Proficiency with office software and communication tools currently in use.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to bend, twist, and stand for up to 10–12 hours and lift up to 40 pounds.
The following physical activities may occasionally be required:
Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
Eye/hand/foot coordination may also be required.
