Job Description/Duties:

Reads and interprets working and design drawings and procedures and completes necessary calculations to determine setups and layouts. Selects tooling, machine feeds and speeds, lubricants and fixtures. Performs machining operations making adjustments as necessary to meet tolerances, quality and productivity standards. Inspects work to assure conformance with design specifications. Over-inspects work of other machinist as required by procedures. Ensures that equipment operates properly and may complete or assist with routine maintenance of repairs. Works with engineering personnel as required to revise or assist in developing procedures and drawings and to determine equipment, tooling, and fixture requirement. Maintains required records, logs and documentation. Uses a variety of manual and automated machining equipment, measuring instruments and hand tools. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Job Qualifications/Requirements: 

High School Diploma or GED. Must meet one (1) of the following requirements: Machine Tool Diploma from a community college (2-year Accredited Program). Precision Machining Technology Diploma (2-year Accredited Program). Graduation from the Accelerated Training in Defense Manufacturing (ATDM) Machining program and a preference for 2 years of Machining experience. High School/GED with a State Certified Machinist Journeyman’s Card is required. Applicant must provide a copy of the Diploma or the machinist journeyman’s card.  If hired, the candidate must agree to complete the apprenticeship program if they do not already have the journeyman’s card.  10+ years of manufacturing machining or tool maker experience. Military Service equivalent in pay grade E-6 or above with one or more of the following Navy Enlisted Classifications(NEC) or service specific equivalent: Machinery Repairman or service equivalent U32A Computer Numerically Controlled Machinist U33A NAMTS Inside Machinist

 

Successful candidates will be required to complete work-keys assessments to include: Applied Math, Locating Information, and Reading for Information. Must be highly motivated, with a focus on attention to detail. Must be a US Citizen with no dual citizenship. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.

 

Verification of Military Experience and Training (VMET, DD Form 2586) and Job Qualification Requirement (JQR) documentation are required when uploading resume.

 

NOTE: The Journeyman's Card or required diploma must be completed prior to 7/1/2025 to be considered for an interview. If hired with no Journeyman's Card, the candidate must agree to complete the apprenticeship program.

The hourly rate for this position in Virginia (US-VA) is expected to be $39.65 per hour.  The hourly rate offered is based on local job market factors and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement.  The company further reserves the right to modify the hourly rate (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation, or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or applicable department/team performance, and other market factors.
