PRIMARY DUTIES:
Machine mechanical components for in-house rebuilds to support maintenance, rebuild components for the area maintenance departments, repair/rebuild cylinders.
REQUIREMENTS:
Must have successfully graduated from a Journeyman Machinist apprentice Program OR other mechanical technical education combined with a minimum of three years industrial machine shop experience in the past ten years will be considered.
Must have a working knowledge in operating a lathe, milling machine, surface grinders, drill press, use of a heating torch, operating vehicles, rebuilding of gear boxes, hydraulic cylinders and pumps; must be able to work from heights and work in various environmental conditions.
Must be able to interpret and read blueprints, calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and machinist measuring tools/instruments, such as micrometers and vernier calipers.
Measure and examine all components to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision equipment.
Dismantle, inspect, repair, or replace parts on in-house rebuilds coming to machine shop.
Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, or grinders. (Manual and/or CNC)
Set-up, adjust, and operate all basic machine tools to perform precision machining operations.
Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information in order to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate parts and determine part dimensions and tolerances.
Having knowledge in the operation of boring mills, key slotters, CNC equipment and vertical lathes is preferred.
Applicant must be able to set up machinery to print specifications with minimal amount of help from supervision.
Perform preventative maintenance on equipment by inspecting for defects such as misalignments, wear, improper lubrication, etc.
Craftsman will be expected to learn the skills of the location mechanics and flex into a location as needed.
Additional knowledge and skills preferred include maintenance of plumbing, pipefitting, hydraulics, pneumatics, and welding.
Craftsman must also be willing to upgrade knowledge and skills as new technology and methods are introduced. This may involve attending training schools.
Must be willing to work with the other maintenance groups and teach skills to other craftsmen.
