**Job Title: Machinist**
**Job Description**
This position is for a CNC machinist responsible for the production of parts in a job shop. The role involves working with vertical mills, performing 3-5 setups/change overs a day, reading blueprints, sourcing materials, and producing parts. The machinist will conduct first article inspections using quality tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges) and maintain a tolerance of +/- .001.
**Responsibilities**
+ Operate and set up vertical mill machining centers.
+ Perform 3-5 setups/change overs daily.
+ Read blueprints and source required materials.
+ Produce parts according to specifications.
+ Conduct first article inspections on produced parts.
+ Use quality inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
+ Maintain a tolerance of +/- .001.
**Essential Skills**
+ Minimum 1-2 years experience as a machinist, specifically with vertical mills.
+ Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
+ Proficiency in maintaining a tolerance of +/- .001.
+ Previous quality inspection experience, specifically with micrometers.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ Previous experience in a job shop setting.
**Work Environment**
This shop employs 40 people and specializes in creating custom parts for the agricultural industry. The work hours are flexible, starting from noon to 8 PM, with initial training provided during the day. The dress code includes jeans, a t-shirt, and steel-toe shoes.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of South Bend, Indiana.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00
