As a Jr. Machinist, you will assist the Operations Manager and Lead Machinist to support fabrication of parts and material in our Jackson SC shop.

Water Jet Operations: operate to cut and form parts for fabrication material. Machinist: operate to cut and form parts for fabrication material. General Shop Support: assist shop teams in fabrication process of materials

 

What You'll Do Here 

 

WATERJET

Responsible for operation, loading and unloading material and parts, proving programs, operating controls, setting offsets, deburring and inspection of quality parts for conformance to requirements. Studies and interprets drawings, manuals, specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished products, sequence of operations and set up requirements. Detects equipment malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjusts machine, within capabilities, controls or control media as required to insure quality of productions. Reports all machine malfunctions to Management. Communicates with management, production control, quality and other shop personnel for assignments and to resolve machining or quality issues. Responsible for keeping equipment and work area clean and orderly and perform basic preventative maintenance functions on equipment. Delivery and pickup of materials to/from vendors and customers  

                               

MACHINIST

Load material into machine per instruction from supervisor. Able to make precise measurements using caliber, micrometer, and dial indicator Operate machinery, observe machining process, ensure program operation, and check machine part accuracy Deburr sharp edges on machined parts and stack them to be ready for next operation. Determine and perform appropriate set up of CNC Vertical machining centers for programs provided by CAM programmers Operate 4- and 5-axis CNC machines Design and build fixtures as needed Program at the control to build fixtures and edit CAM generated programs Select appropriate cutters and tool holders Set-up and operate a full range of machine tools in a prototype development shop Maintain dimensional accuracy to specified tolerances during machining processes Read blueprints and mechanical drawings Work from verbal instructions and sketches Delivery and pickup of materials to/from vendors and customers  

 

What You Bring To The Team

 

Minimum 4 years’ experience working in machining and or fabricating Experience in machining and water jet operations. Organizational skills. Interpersonal skills. Written and oral communication skills.

 

Physical Requirements

 

Prolonged period of standing May be required to climb into awkward locations to perform inspection and tests Extensive reading Eye exam requirements, annually Some traveling
