Job Summary:
The Machinist will be responsible for operating and maintaining precision machining equipment to manufacture components used in cosmetic production. Designs, fabricates, or repairs machine parts to close tolerances. Fits and assembles parts into mechanical equipment. Coordinates and directs projects and shop activities as assigned. This role is accountable for helping to achieve strategies and goals of becoming the world-class, low-cost, high-quality producer of choice. This role is expected to communicate with reliability and operations teams to minimize the impact on the production schedule. Document all work, adjustments, and parts replacements in a computerized maintenance management system. Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Follow standard operating procedures, work instructions, and maintenance schedules. Other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities:
Machining Operations
• Set up and operate CNC and machining equipment (lathes, mills, grinders) to fabricate precision components for use in cosmetic manufacturing. Fabricate or repair machine parts to close tolerances. Perform precision grinding and surface finishing. Fabricate sheet metal and roll-formed parts. Design and build precision jigs, fixtures, and tooling.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine machining processes and dimensions.
• Communicate with Team Leads or Engineers as required for problems or design changes.
• Designs and implements field modifications as needed to improve the performance of production equipment.
• Utilizes electric arcs and tig welders for ferrous and nonferrous metals.
• Document all work in computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
• Maintain high standards of safety, quality, and cleanliness
Maintenance of Machinery
• Performs preventive maintenance (PM) of machinery, including cleaning and lubrication
• Performs minor repairs of machinery as needed.
Skills & Experience:
Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Experience: 3 + years in a light industrial manufacturing environment
Additional Skills & Abilities:
• Job requires a high school education or equivalent plus eight or more years practical experience in machine shop practices with two years formal training preferred with certificate accepted toward experience.
• Three semesters machine shop, two semesters mechanical drawing, and one semester each welding, casting or metallurgy, shop math or trigonometry is preferred. Supervisory experience and training of machinists and/or fabrication mechanics preferred.
• Must be able to lift 50+ lbs. and demonstrate competencies established for this level as specified in the Engineering competency model.
• Shift or schedule change may be necessary due to changing business needs.
