Machinist Group Lead

Position Summary

Direct the work of employees performing the manufacturing operations for a variety of machine tools, and/or assembly operations.  May set up, operate, and adjust various types of manual or automatic machines under minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

Assign work to associates according to the production schedule or other established priority. 

Set up, operate, and adjust various conventional or automatic machines such as Computer Numeric Controlled (CNC) machines and manual machines for a minimum of 50% of the time clocked in.

Able to write or significantly modify an existing CNC program to create finished part . 

Report variations in program sequences, positioning, cycle time, etc.

Adjust machine to control part dimensions.

Inspect in-process pieces to ensure parts are to specification or blueprint.

Communicate internally with contacts outside the work group to exchange work related information.

Support communications between management and operations.

Serve as a resource to others in the resolution of complex problems and issues.

Train, assign and check the work of associates.

Perform activities planned by others.

Maintain a clean and safe workplace in accordance with Regal Rexnord policies, 6S procedures, and in line with Regal Rexnord core values. 

Experience and Skill Required

5 or more years of experience in a machining environment; gear cutting a plus.

High school diploma or equivalent.

Effectively communicate and work in a team environment.

Have knowledge of various metals and of measurements used in machining processes.

Accurately read and comprehend moderately complex material (blue prints, work instructions, ISO procedures, etc).

Leadership experience.

Ability to write to record basic information

Knowledge of and ability to compute mathematical problems skills such as: add, subtract, multiply, and divide fractions and decimals.

Ability to use a computer with clear instructions and procedures

Knowledge of and ability to select and adjust appropriate tools, objects or materials to attain demanding standards in different work situations.

Knowledge of and ability to solve unique problems that are diversified and involved. Judgment is required to adapt standard practices and principles to meet new conditions.
