Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for an MACHINIST-TITLE 32, Position Description Number PDD1212000 and is part of the KY CSMS, National Guard. Responsibilities As an MACHINIST-TITLE 32, WG-3414-10, you will perform machining work to manufacture castings, forgings, weldments, and other fabrications. Plan and lay out work from blueprints, sketches, drawings, part models, and other specifications and instructions. Receive work orders that indicate what work is to be done and plans work accordingly. Lay out work by measuring and marking straight lines, arcs, circles, angles, and location points as guides for setting up work pieces for drilling, tapping, turning, milling, boring, reaming, shaping, grinding, honing, and lapping, using a variety of measuring and marking tools. Use trade mathematics and standard handbook formulas in making computations to establish dimensions. Determine work procedures, machines, tools, equipment, and attachments to be used from a variety of metals, metal alloys, and other materials. Determine proper type and size of raw stock required; sequence of machining operations on each machine tool; and the speeds and feeds necessary to attain required finishes and tolerances based upon the type of tools used and materials to be machined. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Military Grades: SGT(E5)-SFC(E7) RANK REQUIREMENT: Member must provide in writing with their application package that they are willing to accept a reduction in rank in order to be qualified for this position, if applicable. Failure to do so will result in disqualification. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: You must maintain membership in the Kentucky National Guard. You must be assigned to a compatible military position. Wear of the military uniform. Position may require a pre-employment physical. May be subject to furlough actions. May be required to successfully complete a trial period. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. Must obtain and maintain a favorable adjudication of a T3 or equivalent investigation. Acceptance of a Federal position may terminate a military bonus. Acceptance of a Federal position will terminate Tricare Reserve Select (TRS) eligibility. This position is located on a tobacco free facility. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. Qualifications MINIMUM REQUIREMENT: Experience that has provided a basic knowledge of machining processes. Must have the ability to use drill presses, shapers, planers and other types of associated machine tools. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 18 months experience performing the full range of machining operations on most types of conventional or CNC machine tools and their various attachments. Experience planning and lay out work from blueprints, worksheets and other drawings that may have missing or incorrect information. Skill in applying shop mathematics in establishing needed dimensions, such as those required for chasing threads or machining angular surfaces; locating and marking surfaces and angles to be machined. Experience programming machining operations, setting up and operating CNC machine tools. Knowledge of and ability to apply advanced shop mathematics such as geometric and trigonometric formulas to make computation for laying out work, machining pieces at unusual or compound angles, determining gear ratios pitch, angles and other similar exact or precision dimension. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Resume must have complete dates, work schedule, and/or hours worked per week for both civilian and military employment.
