The Machinist/CNC Operator, is a staff member of the Physical Plant, is responsible for proper operation and maintenance of the NYSCC machine shop. This includes accommodating the needs of NYSCC faculty, staff, and student body in terms of safety, fabrication, designing, and facilitating proper usage of the facility for curricular and research purposes. This includes the maintenance, repair, and safety of all machines and equipment housed in the machine shop division of the Physical Plant. 

This position has been evaluated for compliance with the Fair Labor Stands Act and is subject to premium pay for all hours approved by supervisor and worked in excess of 40 in a payroll week. 

This position/title is covered by the CSEA, Local 749 union contract. The successful candidate will be a member of the CSEA, Local 749 bargaining unit.

Salary/Rate:$21.00-$24.00, 40-hours per week, Union Grade: U9

Reporting all concerns and problems with the machines immediately to the DFC DirectorScheduling repairs of all machines and equipment and helping the Director o determine the condition and proper location/set-up of machines and equipment. Maintaining the Center daily to ensure the space is clean and orderlyMaintain and update machine documentation, including maintenance logs, repair records, and equipment manualsPerform preventative maintenance on Computer Numerical Control (CNC) mills, lathes, and other shop equipmentPerforming additional duties and assist with special projects as assigned. The Machinist in the Physical Plant is required to be skilled in computer programming, operation, set up, and maintenance of all machining tools including but not limited to: CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, CAD/CAM, milling machines, lathes, drill presses, surface grinders, cut off saws, sheet metal tools, and hydraulic presses. The Machinist is also required to be able to recommend further development of the facility based on innovations in the field, along with the ability to remain current with advancing technologies as they apply to Digital FabricationWork with Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the machine shop. Personal Protective Equipment must be worn when required. A respiratory function test and the ability to use respirators may be required. The Campus is located in an area that contains numerous hills and slopes and may not always be fully accessible for mobility impaired individuals.
