JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for maintaining the main line, troubleshooting fiber and coax plants, and performing regular preventative maintenance on the entire cable network.   Career Pathways: Main Plant Tech I Main Plant Tech II Main Plant Tech III ESSENTIAL DUTIES, FUNCTIONS & KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: (include but are not limited to) Monitors forward and return network and restores service Performs aerial construction on fiber and coax plant Splices Coaxial Plant with active and passive devices, active and sweep coax plant Assists with prepping fiber cable and splicing Works with test equipment Works on main line outages and problems Resolves service issues at customer residence Operates power equipment such as compressors, pumps, blowers, etc. Works with heavy duty equipment (boring rigs, plows and any other heavy machinery) and small tools in the installation, repair and maintenance of outside plant facilities Performs construction work such as digging holes, placing cable, and inner duct in various types of conduit systems and open excavations; unreels and pulls cable from pedestal or pole to buildings, building entrances, etc. Connects wires and cables to terminals and attaches or detaches various kinds of wires and cables in pedestals, on poles, and in protectors Splices fiber and co-ax cables and installs appropriate enclosures Completes all associated paperwork in timely manner Maintains and performs minor repairs on heavy equipment Cleans, maintains and stocks assigned vehicle May need to apply basic principles and concepts of mechanical and electrical functions in day-to-day work May need to apply understanding of HFC (hybrid fiber-coaxial) headend equipment and distribution architecture KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: Accepts responsibility Adheres to quality assurance standards within deadlines Demonstrates good communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as, reading comprehension skills Performs precise detailed work without supervision Provides services that meet management, customer, and employee expectations Works well with others and provides assistance willingly Utilizes appropriate safety equipment and follows established safety procedures Maintains confidentiality       Manages time wisely Maintains ability to work extended hours during natural disasters or emergency scenarios OUR EXPECTED BEHAVIORS: Upholds and acts in accordance with REV’s Guiding Principles.   EVALUATION:                         Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with procedures established by the company on the evaluation of management personnel.   QUALIFICATIONS & PREREQUISITES: LEVEL I: Required: Must be 18 years of age or older Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation Must be able to obtain valid Class D chauffeur's license within 60 days of employment LEVEL II: Required: 2 years of experience in HFC (hybrid fiber-coaxial) Main Plant Operations Must be 18 years of age or older Valid Class D chauffeur's license and reliable transportation LEVEL III: Required: 5 years of experience in HFC (hybrid fiber-coaxial) Main Plant Operations Must be 18 years of age or older Valid Class D chauffeur's license and reliable transportation GENERAL INFORMATION: This job description does not restrict the company’s right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities of this job at any time.  This job description is subject to change at any time.
