Mainframe Application Developer

Position Overview:

The Software Developer will support Finance & Payment Technology Services at the client organization by providing application and system development, maintenance, and technical support. This role requires adherence to the client organization policies, secure coding practices, and the Software Delivery Framework. The developer will be responsible for enhancing and supporting production applications, creating new applications, and ensuring high-quality deliverables.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Evaluate Mainframe COBOL, JCL, DB2, SQL, VSAM, CICS, and FTP application objects.Document current processes clearly for business owners to facilitate modernization decisions.Refresh the Mainframe SIT and CAT application environments with production data as requested.Execute SIT and CAT batch processing cycles and resolve any errors.Apply business requirements to enhance Mainframe COBOL, JCL, DB2, SQL, VSAM, CICS, and FTP objects.Resolve critical defects prior to production implementation.Ensure the Technology Solutions Life Cycle (TSLC) process is followed.Collaborate with the client organization Software Architect and Business Owners to review and approve SIT and CAT results before production migration.Participate in Agile ceremonies and utilize iterative development methodologies.Employ Agile/Scrum processes and management tools (e.g., VersionOne, ServiceNow).Create and update system, training, and user documentation.Provide Visio diagrams, use cases, data modeling, risks, architecture, and infrastructure documentation across project phases.Provide on-call and after-hours support for production systems as required.Proactively engage with customers and end-users to ensure requirements are met and expectations managed positively.System, training, and user documentation.Visio diagrams, use cases, data modeling, risks, architecture, and infrastructure documents.Use cases, data models/procedures, test cases, and models.Source code baselines, compile-time files, and component executables.User guides, analysis and design packages, maintenance, and deployment packages.All documentation must be editable and maintained in client organization-approved tools.

 

Qualifications:

 

Strong expertise in Mainframe COBOL, JCL, DB2, SQL, VSAM, CICS, and FTP.Experience with secure coding practices and the client organization Software Delivery Framework.Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools like VersionOne and ServiceNow.Proven ability to create comprehensive technical and user documentation.Demonstrated ability to analyze complex systems and provide clear, actionable documentation.Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve critical defects efficiently.Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

 

Performance Hours:

 

Flexible based on the client organization management needs, including nights, weekends, or holidays as required.
